The room is lovely, very large and clean, in Chatan, Okinawa, and attached to a vintage store. The manager was pleasant and helpful, and gave me a community map with recommended restaurants marked. A grocery store is a 10-minute walk away, and the seawalk is a couple of blocks away. The area feels fairly depressed, with many shops closed or keeping limited hours. There are two laundry facilities within walking distance, but they're filthy and few of the machines work. For the price, I expected more amenities. There's a microwave and fridge but no utensils, microwave-safe plates, cutlery, wine glasses, or other nice touches. The shower is over the bathtub with no curtain, so the floor gets very wet. The room has no English TV, only four Japanese channels. We also had to buy our own toilet paper because the supplied kind was highly scented. The lack of windows and natural light makes the room very dark. It's on the ground floor, looking onto a parking lot at the corner of two fairly busy streets, so there's nothing to look at. The room price is high for the area. Check out the hotel area 10 minutes away, with patios and full amenities, closer to the American depot.
