Yanagiya Ryokan

The rooms were roomy and comfortable, and the indoor and open-air onsens were lovely and relaxing. Service was extremely courteous and kind. Great value, and I'd happily stay again.

The Japanese-style room was cute but small. The staff were nice, the place was quiet, and the onsen was pleasant. The food was good too.

It's a very remote onsen, but it's well kept and the people are friendly.

The new wing room made for a comfortable stay, with none of the musty smell other reviewers mentioned. The rooms, baths, and other areas seemed clean. The inn has a charming feel and just the right size for a quiet, relaxing visit. Some things are more do-it-yourself than at a luxury inn, like making your own tea, but I was very happy with the stay. Thank you! We came for a short New Year's getaway, and every staff member was incredibly considerate. Yanagiya made our Chichibu trip memorable. The inn is far from the station, but when we asked ahead, they did their best to accommodate us. Shuttle staff are limited, so our preferred time might not always be possible. Even so, we appreciated being able to spend less time outside in the cold. Both breakfast and dinner were generous and satisfying. The carp and soba were especially tasty. One staff member apologized that service was delayed, but the meal didn't feel slow to us. They timed things around the rice and pot cooking, so the pace worked out just right. There are no shops or convenience stores nearby, so unless you have particular needs, I'd recommend ordering meals at the inn.
