Think・Hotel・Think

This has happened several times: online, I see more than 10 rooms available, but when I go there, the hotel is full. A few minutes later, the website shows more than 10 rooms again. I wonder if they're deliberately choosing which customers to let in and filling the hotel that way. Unless there's a special reason, they shouldn't be picky about customers.

The AC and bathroom were covered in mold, and the cleaning hadn't been done properly. I left straight away and developed a sore throat. They charged me 6,500 yen for a two-hour stay. Everyone, please be careful.

The night staff's attitude was awful. I ordered breakfast after midnight and was told it was out of stock, even though they'd accepted my order when I called around 11 p.m. I wonder if the answer just depends on the staff member's mood that day. They were unfriendly on the phone too. I've put up with it each time, but it leaves me very uncomfortable. I think Uchimiya Shoji's part-time employees need some retraining.

The amenities were a nice surprise. I'd forgotten my contact lens case and solution, then found both in the amenities section. There was a wide selection, two complimentary bottles of mineral water, and a weekday-only offer of free breakfast for members. VIP members get 25% off the room rate, and it seems you can buy that membership for 11,000 yen a year. Regular members can get a card for 220 yen and collect points to move up in rank. You can order Uber Eats to the room, and there's a wide room service menu too. I stayed one night in a guest room on the fifth floor. It was small but comfortable, and the little bathroom had a mist sauna that felt wonderful. I also liked the TV in there. I was at Hotel 555 before, where the karaoke was quite loud but still audible. I hoped to have karaoke this time too, but it wasn't available. I couldn't hear karaoke from the other rooms, though. If you sing, you want to do it to your heart's content, and without serious soundproofing the noise will leak out. As a matter of common courtesy, if you're going to sing late into the night, you should probably use a karaoke room. It seems they also have karaoke time for girls' get-togethers.
