The room is really good, and it’s very close to the airport. The uphill location means walking up and down is exhausting, though. Otherwise, it deserves five stars.

It’s quiet, clean, tidy, and well equipped, with the host’s care showing through. It seems suitable for a long stay. The guesthouse is near a hillside, so insects may be around. They’re attracted to light, so go inside quickly before turning the lights on, and open and close the balcony door quickly too. After an evening international flight, buy late-night snacks at Lawson in the airport, since there aren’t shops near the guesthouse. The shuttle stop is right across from Lawson. Take the bus to the domestic airport stop, then walk about 15 minutes to the guesthouse. Parts of the walk are dark and uphill, but manageable. For check-in, have your passport ready and press the intercom button. A light will come on so it can scan your passport. Once someone says “OK” and asks for your room number, go to your room. Enter the code below the door to get the key, then unlock it. The host sends check-in instructions the day before, and asks you to reply once you’ve checked in successfully. The next day, it’s convenient to walk to Tramway Entrance 4 and take the Airport Line, which starts there. Once you know the area, getting from the exit to Lawson in front of the Hakata Chikushi-guchi Oriental Hotel by tram and on foot takes about 25 minutes. East Gate 3 is closest, and there’s a restroom to the right of the Kisui-maru area.
