The location was the one real plus, just about a five-minute walk from Hakata station. This was also the only hotel on our trip with a gym, though I didn't feel comfortable there and left after ten minutes. The room felt stuck in the 1990s, more dated than newer budget chains like Holiday Inn and Best Western in the US. It had a musty smell, so we turned on the air purifier, something we hadn't needed during our 11 days in Japan at various hotels. The shower curtain was also hung inside out and missed the first ring hole. For the higher price, I'd look at other options if you're expecting typical Japanese attention to detail.

The room was dim even with every light on, and there was visible mold in the bathroom and on the air purifier. That level of cleanliness is unacceptable for a hotel like this. I also wasn't acknowledged as an IHG member at the start, and none of the benefits I was entitled to were mentioned or offered. I contacted the hotel about these problems after the trip, then sent two follow-up emails and got no reply. That felt unprofessional and disappointing. This was my worst stay at an ANA Crowne Plaza, and it has seriously shaken my confidence in the hotel.

The hotel is near the train station, and my short stay was comfortable and worked well for a solo traveler. I was glad they recognized my IHG membership and gave me a room upgrade, even though I had used a reward certificate for the night. The bathroom is a little dated, but it was clean and looked well maintained.

The ladies in the Club Lounge were especially lovely, and all the staff were first class. We had a near-perfect room on the 14th floor. A really nice Crowne Plaza and a lovely stay, thank you.

The staff were a huge help, from calling the luggage service to arranging a taxi. The hotel is within easy walking distance of most places, and it was a great standard. The hospitality was amazing.
