Cross Life Hakata Yanagibashi（ORIX HOTELS & RESORTS）

Service was very good overall, but a couple of things could be improved. The room itself was clean, though the air conditioner vents were quite dusty. The magnetic door sign could also be split into two groups. We were really startled when staff knocked very loudly before 11 to ask whether we wanted the room cleaned, even though there was no sign on the door. Please don’t knock that early when there’s no sign.

We were happy with our stay overall. The room entrance light is controlled by an automatic sensor and turns off after three minutes. When someone went to the toilet, it came on again and disturbed the people sleeping. Apart from that, we were satisfied. We stayed for seven nights in October 2025 and booked two rooms, one for three people and one for two. The rooms were small, as is typical, and opening our medium clamshell suitcases was difficult. Rooms, toilets, beds, sheets, and towels were clean. Luggage can be left in the lobby or the storage room, and check-in and check-out were quick. Staff were friendly and responsive. The location was decent, near two train stations and bus stops, and close to Naka River. Yanahibashi Rengo seafood market is right beside the hotel.

We stayed with our family on the 11th floor and were very satisfied with the room and bathroom layout and condition. Having connecting rooms was great for keeping our young family together. The hotel seemed very popular with tourists.

The room looked new, and the bathroom was bright and clean. At check-in, the receptionist was courteous and the surroundings seemed pleasant. But the shower temperature markings had worn away, so I kept getting scalded while trying to adjust the hot and cold water. There was dust in a few places, which I could accept. What I couldn’t get over was seeing a cockroach about two centimeters long crawl out from under the bed toward the headboard control panel while I was sitting on the sofa in the evening. I was shocked. I’d never had this happen in a chain hotel before. The raised space beneath the bed seemed to have lots of food crumbs from previous guests. Housekeeping came before the second night of my two-night stay, but it left me wondering if they were short-staffed. The cleaning felt like a quick tidy rather than a thorough job. I won’t stay here again.
