There’s plenty of room and it was clean, which worked well for our family. Getting there with luggage was harder, though, since the station is quite a distance away and walking was difficult.

The apartments are modern, convenient, and impressively clean and spacious by Japanese standards. The painful part is check-in: everything has to be done on a lobby screen. Without a working phone, you can’t even get inside.

There’s no front desk staff, so we couldn’t leave our bags after checkout. During the stay, our towels weren’t changed, and the room had no spare rubbish bags or paper towels. They told us to buy those at a convenience store. Getting around was a pain too, with about a 15-minute walk to the metro. I had a terrible time here and wouldn’t recommend it for stays longer than one night. There are better places in Fukuoka.

The facilities are nice, but the city tax caught me off guard. My last stay at Grand Base was 400 for two nights, plus 200 per night, so I expected around 800 total this time. Instead it was 1200 in city tax alone for one night, and 1600 altogether.
