TKP Sunlife Hotel

The room was small and came with just one bottle of water. You have to pay 1000 yen for the entertainment channels. The staff were very helpful and informative, and the breakfast set was really good.

The breakfast is served in the izakaya next door, which you can enter from the hotel lobby. There’s a choice of intercontinental or Japanese style, and both were very good. The hotel is right opposite Hakata station, with a subway entrance beside the second exit, and the price is decent. Most things, including the room and amenities, were up to standard. The central air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted from our room, though, and it was set to heating at the time. It got really hot, so we had to open the window. Luckily we could, and Japanese cities are quieter than back home, so we slept fine with it open.

The staff were nice, but not helpful when I asked them to reconfirm a restaurant booking. Location is the only real advantage. My room was humid, smelly, and extremely hot. I don’t understand why they had the central heating on when it wasn’t cold outside; the lobby was more comfortable than the room. The rate is higher than Toyoko Inn or APA, and I don’t think it’s worth that price.

The price is reasonable and the rooms and amenities are mostly up to standard. The location is excellent, right across from Hakata Station, with a subway entrance conveniently beside the second exit.
