Super Hotel Premier Hakata Station

The public bath changing area could use a hairdryer, since there isn’t one and that’s inconvenient. Otherwise, the location is handy, about a ten-minute walk from the station, and the service lives up to what I expect from the Super Hotel chain. I also liked being able to watch YouTube on the room TV.

Breakfast was very good, though the room felt a little small. Hakata Station is about an eight-minute walk away. The public bath has limited capacity, so avoid busy times unless you’re okay waiting for a shower.

The hot spring was just okay, but I’d stay here again. I was traveling alone for one night, and the staff I met were friendly. After check-in, there were lots of amenities and different pillows to choose from in the lobby. The complimentary bar really impressed me, with infused spirits and light snacks. My room had a good amount of space, and the location was convenient: a convenience store is right across the street, restaurants are nearby, and the station is less than a ten-minute walk away.

We paid for a room for three but got a room with one bed. When we brought it up, staff said it was the only option available. The rooms may also be smaller than you expect. What bothered me most was how staff treated us. They seemed uninterested in helping and had rude body language. I first thought we were dealing with a language barrier, so I used a translator, but they still just stared blankly at their desks. At the same time, they seemed fully attentive to Japanese visitors. That difference left us feeling we may have experienced casual racism. I stayed here a week ago and initially chose not to post a review. After thinking it over, I felt I should describe what happened. Staff may have had bad experiences with foreign visitors before, and they may be tired, but that doesn’t mean all foreigners are alike. Some of us just want to get to our rooms without being treated rudely. If the hotel isn’t foreigner-friendly, it shouldn’t sell rooms to foreigners. It was a very disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to other travelers, especially foreigners.
