The Millennials Fukuoka

The check-in was a breeze. I did mobile check-in ahead of time, then entered my PIN on an iPad at reception and picked up my key straight away, with no line. The location was convenient, and as hostels go, it did the job. I'd choose it over bunk beds in a shared room. The shared spaces, including the laundrette, felt neglected and unwelcoming. The washing machines were grimy, some with visible mold. Cleanliness was my biggest concern: there was leftover hair and clothing in the bathrooms, the bins hadn't been emptied, and I saw lots of dust under the beds when I moved my suitcase. The pod was hot at night and fairly noisy, so it was hard to rest. The place needs more regular upkeep and a refresh.

The bed is big and comfy, and this capsule hotel is a good, safe place to rest after being out and about. Just don't expect room to move around or a door. A few small annoyances: the fan is a bit weak if you tend to get hot, though it eventually cools things enough to sleep comfortably. The bedsheet can come loose from the mattress when you shift positions a lot. The luggage tray underneath fits a medium suitcase at most, maybe less.

Really fancy for a pod hotel, with double bed pods and Dyson hair dryers. There's a nice lounge for eating or relaxing, and the bar downstairs gives you free beer, soda, or apple juice for non-drinkers from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.

I loved the bar, with its excellent cocktail menu and reasonable prices. The American/Japanese bartender was wonderful and made my stay in Fukuoka so enjoyable. The accommodation itself was perfect too, well located and very comfortable.
