Pension Gooseberry felt warm and personal, like a small, cozy hotel run by one host who was always around and put a lot of heart into it. We found it easy to communicate with him in English, and we naturally got to know other guests in the lounge. The pension is in the forest, so waking up surrounded by nature was really peaceful. Breakfast was homemade and fresh each morning, and the host took individual preferences seriously, including no pork for religious reasons and avoiding fish or seafood. The meals were varied, balanced and delicious. There was also a complimentary station in the breakfast lounge with water, tea, cookies and other treats. One day, the host tried making Aperol Spritz and invited us to sample them. They were tasty and mixed just right. We had our own bathroom in the room but also tried the Japanese-style family bath, which was relaxing and a unique experience. When the host noticed we'd picked up a trial sake from 7-Eleven, he generously shared some of his personal favorite sake with us. We'd love to come back. It's a lovely place to relax, unwind and feel at home.

The quiet, snow-covered view from the wooden house made it feel cozy and almost like paradise. The host was so kind, the homemade food was amazing, and the dogs were adorable. It’s very close to Furano ski resort, and if you don’t have a rental car, calling a taxi is a good option. There’s a ski drying room, and sharing the bathroom wasn’t a problem as long as we set a schedule. We only stayed one night this time, which was a pity. We’d love to come back. Thank you 😊

We’d stay here again. It’s a really cozy place, and the host is very welcoming. The setting is just outside town at the edge of the forest, about a two-minute drive from the Furano side of the mountain. A rental car is probably the easiest option, though there is limited bus service.

The owner was very nice and spoke English, and we appreciated the good breakfast, parking, and cozy feel. The only drawback was that the walls are a little thin, so please keep your voices and activities quiet in your room out of respect for the other guests.

The breakfast was outstanding, made and served with care, and the owner was genuinely helpful, willing to go the extra mile to meet our needs. Every little detail felt looked after. The stylish furnishings and lovely common room, where you can have coffee or just relax, made the stay fantastic. It exceeded what I expected.
