Hotel Resol Gifu

The room was very spacious, though dated. The price was reasonable, and it's close to public transport.

We only stayed one night. The hotel was well priced, with a clean, larger-than-average room and a softer bed. The location was good too, with a convenience store and lots of places to eat nearby. A couple of bars are also about five minutes from the train stations.

The price is good, and so is the location, within walking distance of a couple of Gifu's major stations and close to restaurants and bars. But I'd only give it 2-3 out of 5 stars. We arrived with the kids at 2:40 pm, and staff made us wait until 3 pm to check in. There's no security at the elevator area, so anyone can walk in without using a key. Room cleaning costs extra because it's a "green" hotel, yet basic room upkeep is poor. There were stains on cushions and carpets, scuffs on the walls, and the sofa bed was uncomfortable and squeaky. The bathroom was pretty nasty too, with mold in the crevices and yellow, poop-like matter right under the sink basin. After two nights, I was very disappointed. We'd expected more after reading so many good reviews. To me, it felt like a rundown motel in a high-rise building.

We came back for the convenient location, clean room, and price. The convenience store is nearby, and bars and izakaya are everywhere. It's 10 minutes from the train and bus stations.
