Hotel Route-Inn Gotenba Ekiminami

I came to Japan for the first time to cycle around Mount Fuji, and had a wonderful stay here. There were lots of restaurants nearby, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable, and I enjoyed the amenities, especially the onsen and breakfast. One of the best places I’ve stayed.

The buffet breakfast was included and excellent, and the train and bus stations are an easy walk away. We had a road-facing room, with Mount Fuji visible right from the window. The morning view was excellent. The hotel is professionally run, and the rooms were clean, furnished, and soundproof.

The staff were very kind, and breakfast came with plenty of good choices, both Western and Japanese. The hotel also has a decent sento. My room felt a little old and musty. It’s a somewhat inconvenient walk from the station, though still not too far. It seemed popular with industrial business travelers and people staying for a Mt. Fuji hike.

The breakfast had the full range of things you might expect at a meal in Japan. The onsen was small but well equipped, with bath clothes, a razor, combs, Q-tips, and slippers. The place was impeccably managed and very well appointed, the best experience I’ve had in Japan so far.
