Hotel Sekisuien

The room was roomy and comfortable, and the food was delicious, served in Japanese style. There’s no public Onsen, and I felt the price was a little high for what you get.

Having a private outdoor bath made it easy to properly relax, especially with that gorgeous view of Gujo Hachiman. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious. I’m not much of a fish person, so I’m glad they’ll adjust the menu if you speak up. We can’t wait to come back.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and lovely. Ours faced the mountain, so the view was really scenic. Dinner was delicious, served as a course in the hotel restaurant. We stayed several nights, and they brought out different dishes each day. It’s also handy if you take the last 6pm shuttle and want dinner afterward. There aren’t other restaurants around the hotel, though, so otherwise you’ll need to go down the mountain to town for meals. The hotel sits partway up the mountain, so walking down is easy enough, but coming back up is a bit of a challenge. There’s a shuttle to and from the station and castle plaza. Contact the hotel in advance to arrange a pickup from the station. For pickups from castle plaza, there’s a daily shuttle at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, or 6pm, but you need to request a time at the front desk. Staff were kind and really tried to communicate whenever we needed help or had questions. The doors lock at midnight, so be back by then or tell the front desk if you’ll be late so they can unlock the entrance. There are no hot springs, and the swimming pool was closed during our stay.

The location is a little remote, but that didn’t matter since we drove. The room was spacious, and the meals were delicious. 👍🏻
