The room was roomy and comfortable, and the mesh screens meant I could leave the windows open without letting bugs in. Breakfast was basic, with a few kinds of toast, a hot drink, and orange juice. The shower took a while to warm up, but once it did, it was nice and hot. It's right by the port, which was a real help when my flight was canceled and I had to take the 10h ferry back to Tokyo instead. The walk to the guesthouse is a little outside the “downtown” area and can feel unsettling after dark, though there isn't much traffic. The owners can drive you to the downtown restaurants around 530 if you want. I'd definitely stay again when I get back.

The beds are quite large, and the staff are friendly. It's very handy if you're arriving by ferry. The showers are in a small separate building, so I imagine they could feel cold in winter, but that wasn't an issue when I visited in November. It's a bit far from the center, though with a bike or car that doesn't matter much.

The dorm was clean and comfortable, with spacious private bunks and kitchen facilities. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. It's right beside the ferry terminal, and they run regular diving trips, which makes getting out to explore the waters around Hachijojima convenient. I'd come back.

The shower room felt like hell, and there wasn't even a hair dryer. The first-floor room was cramped, with an upper and lower wooden structure that made a loud noise when I lay down. Even the most expensive room on the second floor didn't come with toothpaste or a toothbrush. Having to buy them separately for 300 yen felt ridiculous. I'd suggest thinking carefully before staying here. I also suspect some of the positive reviews may have been obtained through dishonest means.

I paid 18800 yen for a room that was full of mold and had no toiletries, and it left me really disappointed. The bedding also had yellowish-brown stains (P5). I can't say for sure whether the mold or the stains caused my skin allergy, but after staying here my reaction was so bad that I had to cut my trip short and return to Tokyo early. I chose the place without hesitation after seeing its good Google reviews and the range of facilities and services it advertised. It makes me sad to feel deceived, but I wanted to leave an honest review as a reference for others. The inn sells toothbrushes for 300 yen, twice the convenience-store price. I also wonder why nobody seems to have mentioned such poor hygiene. Are fake reviews a thing in Japan? And I can't help wondering, just cauze I am an Foreigners from Asia?:-I
