Comfort Hotel Hachinohe

I've been in Japan for a week and a half visiting family and stayed at four hotels. This has been by far the worst for me. The staff are fine, but the shower walls had soap scum, and the place is NOISY. From inside my room, I could hear people talking at a normal volume from far down the same-floor hallway. The shower temperature kept jumping from chilly to hotter than I'd set it. I've stayed in a couple of hotels older than this one and never had that problem, so I don't know what the deal is. The cheap hair dryer gets way too hot on turbo and too weak on the next lower setting. Trains are audible through the window all day and night. The bedding is the worst part. The pillows are abysmal, an inch thin and hard, and not remotely suitable for side sleepers. Alternative pillows are available, so ask for those if you need them. The AC controls are chained to the opposite wall underneath the unit, far from the bed, unlike every other hotel I've stayed in. It's a small thing, but still inconvenient. The laundry machines don't provide detergent. Daiwa Roynet has machines that wash, dry, and automatically add soap. This has also been by far the most expensive hotel I've stayed in. Most places I've stayed averaged about $60/night, while this one is $80. What am I paying extra for, to be irritated the whole time? I definitely won't choose this location again. I have another day left here and can't wait for it to be over.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a good view from the 9th floor. Since the windows don't open, adjustable heating and cooling is a must, and the air-conditioning does both. Breakfast was surprisingly good, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was cozy and had all the basic amenities. It's a convenient 5-10 minute walk from Hachinohe Station. The Japanese breakfast is standard and the selection is limited, but enough to get the day started. There are also several Japanese restaurants and a Lawson convenience store nearby if you want more options.

We really enjoyed the customer service, and the Western breakfast was a welcome touch. The hotel is within walking distance of Hachinohe train station, and if you're driving, there's a good-sized parking lot attached. Our stay was nice. The pillows were flatter than we prefer, and at times the noise from the train station was a bit loud.
