Gora Base A

Getting here was the hard part. I made the mistake of hauling my suitcase up the "shortcut" from the nearest bus station, a narrow, dark 400m uphill climb. Take a cab or ride the train to the much closer Gora Station instead! The place itself is pretty much an apartment, just uphill from Gora Station, with high-quality facilities and a cozy feel. There was bottled water and chocolate waiting, and the heated tatami area was comfortable. The induction hotplate comes with a full set of cooking gear, though there's no very convenient grocery store nearby. For the in-unit laundry, bring 100 JPY coins. They provide detergent and a drying rack if you'd rather not use the dryer.

The host gave very detailed directions for finding the car park, which was a bit tricky to locate. The room was very clean and had everything we needed, even though it wasn't large. We especially liked the tatami area where our family could spend time together. Good location, and we were very happy with our stay!

A quiet place with a fantastic location. Really nice place to stay.

We stayed here in Hakone on vacation in December 2024, and I really loved it. The place felt excellent for the price. The location is near Gora station. Hygiene matters a lot to me, and everything was clean: the beds and tatami, oven, microwave, pots and pans, cups, and kettle. Bottled water was provided too.
