Yusakaso

The baths were the best part for me. The women’s indoor onsen is quite small, but from 8 to 9 pm the outdoor mixed bath is women-only. You need to wear a towel, and it was a great experience. There’s no private shower in the room, so you bathe at the onsen or use the shared bathroom in its changing room. The meals were interesting and a real experience, with lots of small and larger plates served in your room for dinner and breakfast. The dishes change each day, so you get to try local food. We liked some and not others, but enjoyed the feast. The room was spacious and well maintained, and everyone was welcoming and comfortable speaking English and explaining things. A great stay.

The outdoor pool felt magical, and the kaiseki dinner was unforgettable. We stayed here last year with our three-year-old and one-year-old, and found the onsen beautiful. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the price felt very fair compared with other onsens in the area.

The outdoor onsen was hotter than the two smaller indoor baths, so it might suit cooler weather better. The indoor baths were a comfortable temperature, and although the bathing area felt intimate, it never seemed crowded when we were there. We loved the range of traditional dinner dishes, all delicious and new to us. After a short drive from Odawara, a smiling staff member met us in the parking lot and carried our luggage. The ryokan felt traditional, intimate, and homey. A staff member gave us a helpful tour, and she was so sweet. The rooms were much larger than what we were used to in bigger cities, and the bedding was comfortable. My family really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for such a hospitable stay.

We walked from the station and had to hike up the mountain to get here, but it was well worth it. From the welcome when we arrived to checkout, everything was great. Highly recommend!
