Hakuba Echo Hotel

The cocktails at the bar are pretty special, and the staff are great. It’s central, cozy, and comfortable, with a real home-away-from-home feel after a hard day out.

We had everything we needed in the “compact” room, including plenty of space for our luggage, and the bathroom was clean and really nice. The hotel is right in echoland, surrounded by restaurants and ski rental shops. Breakfast was part of our rate, and the service was BEYOND AMAZING. Staff were so friendly and helpful, with pickup from happo bus terminal and daily morning shuttles to the mountains. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

John picked us up from the train station even though we arrived quite late, and helped again when we got stuck after misreading the bus timetables. The staff are incredible, always friendly and willing to give you their time. Breakfast and the shuttle are excellent, and there’s also a bar downstairs, laundry service, and a drying room for snow gear. This was the most enjoyable place we stayed in Japan. I can’t say enough good things about it.

We had a great breakfast at the hotel each morning, then enjoyed evening pool games and a couple of drinks at the bar. Our family of four stayed for seven nights and had an excellent time. The location made it easy to catch the free Hakuba shuttle network to different resorts, or use the hotel’s free morning drop-off. There’s a great drying room, and the staff were friendly and happy to share what they knew about the area. We’d love to come back if we get the chance.
