Hanamaki Onsen Hotel Koyokan

The staff are amazing, breakfast has a huge selection, and the hotel is enormous. You can use the onsens in all three buildings!

I've stayed here in both summer and winter. In winter, the snow outside my room's window was excellent to look at, and the buffet dinner and breakfast were still up to their high standard. The staff are very nice and helpful. The room gets a bit too hot for me in either season because the air-conditioning uses centralized temperature control. In summer I sweated at night, and in winter the temperature still wasn't comfortable for me. You can also use the public baths at the other two nearby hotels. The buffet meals are good.

The room was spacious, clean, and tidy. Two hotels in the same group are joined by sheltered corridors, and each has its own hot spring, souvenir shop, and restaurant. Their restaurant on the 2nd floor serves breakfast and dinner buffets with a wide selection. There's a drug store next to the hotel that's open until 11 p.m., and a light performance at night.

The skincare products in the onsen rooms worked wonderfully for my skin, so I ended up buying some at the souvenir shops. They also serve a delicious vegan shojin ryori dinner if you reserve it. The hotels are clean, tidy, and beautiful, making for a lovely stay. Guests at any of the three hotels they manage can use the hot springs at all three.
