The bath was relaxing, and there’s a fireplace you can use for 1000 yen if you buy firewood. Still, I’m giving it 4 stars with a few reservations. Getting to the front door means tackling a long, steep slope, so it could be tough for anyone with weak legs or small children. There’s a Japanese-style room with shoji screens, which might be worrying with little kids around. The cooking gear was advertised as a good selection, but there were no measuring spoons, the knives were completely dull, and food burned easily in the large pan because its Teflon coating was worn out. No seasonings, plastic wrap, or aluminum foil were provided either. The bath amenities were basic: disposable toothbrushes, lotion and moisturizer that seemed like they came from a 100-yen store, and a weak hairdryer. Shampoo and body wash were there, but no conditioner.
