Sora One Stay & Yoga

A nice place to stay.

There’s a supermarket just a five-minute drive away, which made it easy to pick up groceries and cook. The house was neat and clean, and the host was very friendly. We’re Taiwanese visitors, and the landlord’s adorable Shiba Inu is 16 years old. It’s a great fit for a family trip, and 7-8 people should be comfortable here.

Sora one stay & yoga is a cozy little house in Higashikawa, and my time there was the best experience in Hokkaido. The friendly hosts shared useful information about Higashikawa and helped make my stay wonderful. The accommodation was clean and quiet, too.

We stayed at Sora One Stay & Yoga in July 2018, and it felt more like a vacation home than a guesthouse or hotel. Our family of five, two adults and three children, had plenty of space. We usually used the basement, while the owner lived on the second floor. It was a comfortable, quiet house, and the owner was friendly, spoke excellent English, and was easy to communicate with. Before we checked in, he patiently answered all my questions. We arrived later than planned, so the owner called the restaurant to see whether it was still open before taking us there. He waited until we had ordered before leaving, perhaps because he was concerned we might have trouble with the language. The house had a washing machine, kitchen, children's toys, and a floor mat. There was no TV; maybe it wasn’t needed because the owner holds yoga classes in the room when there are no guests. Sora isn’t in a big city, but it’s around a 10-15 minute drive from Asahikawa, Hokkaido’s second largest city, and 20-25 minutes from Biei, so shopping and sightseeing are convenient. If you want nature and a break from the bustle, it’s a good choice. You do need a car: there’s no train station nearby, and unless you know Hokkaido’s bus system very well, driving is the only option. We had a very pleasant trip and are grateful to the host for showing us the beautiful side of Higashikawa Town in Hokkaido.
