Our short weekend away from Tokyo turned out to be much more than we expected. The owner even helped us get the campfire and barbecue going in the evening and again in the morning. We woke to a rare sea of clouds below Mt. Fuji, framed by the crisp autumn air. The owner said it doesn’t happen often. There was also freshly roasted and brewed coffee and a sumptuous breakfast. We’ll definitely come back!
We arrived late, but the host still took the time to explain everything about the inn. At checkout, they even took a commemorative photo with us. The town was a lovely part of the trip too, with an art museum, a delicious soba restaurant using Sanbuichi spring water, and several places where we could sample Hakushu beer thanks to the nearby Hakushu Distillery. I’d like to visit both the inn and town again. The deck opens onto a buckwheat field, with a clear view of Mt. Fuji, the Southern Alps, and a sea of clouds. Having coffee there with my partner in the morning was a memory I’ll keep. Inside, the wood interior was clean and tidy, with soft lighting and a pleasant natural scent as soon as we walked in. The sofa and bed were comfortable, and thoughtful touches included blankets, tableware, Bose speakers, a Panasonic hair dryer, binoculars, and children’s toys. We had a wonderful holiday in this warm-feeling room and spectacular location.
We had a great stay, and the view made it easy to feel close to nature. Coffee first thing in the morning was especially refreshing. The place has everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry area, plus karaoke and board games for relaxing and having fun. The living room and kitchen are downstairs, with bedrooms on the mezzanine and second floor. We came with a married couple who are friends, so having separate bedrooms worked perfectly. The staff were really polite and helpful. We were short on time before checkout, but they still brought out a hammock and other amenities. I’d recommend it for families or friends.
After dinner, we enjoyed drinks by the firewood burning in the living room fireplace. That was a special part of a really luxurious stay, and I’d definitely come back when I visit Yatsugatake. The owner was so kind, and his warm personality came through throughout our visit. We brought our own food for an evening barbecue, using delicious ingredients from a nearby local produce market. The barbecue setup was complete, and the owner showed us how to use it. The mountain views from the living room and wood deck were amazing, the kitchen utensils and amenities were excellent, and the clean bedroom showed real attention to detail.
The night view by the bonfire was an amazing experience, and everything we needed for mountain activities was provided. The owner and the building felt like a perfect match, which made the stay especially memorable. I recently had a child, and I’d love to share this experience with them someday. The secluded location made the journey there exciting, and arriving felt unlike anywhere else. The building was carefully designed, clean, and well maintained, and you could tell the owner cared about it. He remembered every guest’s name and handled requests sincerely, which gave me a lot of trust in him. At checkout, we even checked that we hadn’t left anything behind and chatted for a while. It was hard to leave.
