The rooms are clean and thoughtfully equipped, and both the staff and the public baths were great. The gardens, though, look neglected and lonely, and the place feels like an old ryokan that's seen better days. Still, there's something cute about it in that slightly forlorn state.

We had a comfortable, well-kept room with a lovely view of the ocean. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious, especially the Ise shrimp, and there was plenty of parking for our car.

The nicest part was being just steps from the Couple Rocks (Couple Rocks), with a really pleasant walk along the beach. The ryokan has some history behind it and is kept up fairly well, but the onsen felt small and not very exciting. Dinner was okay, and the staff were friendly, though there seemed to be too few of them and service felt stretched. Wi-Fi only works in the lobby, not in the guest rooms or restaurant.

The breakfasts and dinners felt like elegant feasts, and the service was outstanding and warm. The meteo iwa rocks are an easy walk away. Keep an eye out for the Akita napping in the lobby.

It's a handy spot for the train, buses, and walking to the tourist sights. The staff and local people were very friendly, and the meals were good.
