I like knowing what to expect at Apa hotels: a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. I stayed two nights, and the staff left fresh towels and other items for me on day two. The room is a business-hotel size, so don't expect much space, especially if you're traveling with kids. I bring an HDMI cable or Chromecast so I can connect to the TV from bed and watch YouTube or Netflix while winding down. There are free drinks and soft cream on the first floor. I'm not sure whether they're free just once or more than once.

I could barely turn around by the door. The room was unbelievably tiny! I know Japanese hotels can be small, but this one really surprised me. Avoid it if you can.
