The place was tidy, but the facilities felt obsolete. I was surprised to see a blanket imported from China and couldn't help wondering how committed they are to maintaining the overall standard.
The covered barbecue spot right outside the room was really convenient, and I bought a firewood set for 1600 yen. I stayed here for the first time while returning from visiting the family grave. It's partway up a mountain, with just a faint glimpse of the sea if you go higher. You can still see signs that it's a trailer house. The second floor is a loft with about five futon sets, and I bumped my head three times (lol). The manager and the woman there were lovely and explained everything carefully. There was an open-air bath in the room, but it closed at 9 PM, which felt a bit early and was a minus for me. There are different kinds of buildings, so next year I'll try another one (lol). Thanks for looking after us 🙇
The hot springs are close by, and the manager is very kind. From the balcony at Building I, you get a panoramic view of the Sea of Japan. It's covered, so you can enjoy sitting out there even in light rain.
The room is comfortable, and the location is great. The kitchen is as spacious as one in a family apartment building. We used to be able to enjoy the hot springs, but now it's just an ordinary bath where you fill it with hot water. I wanted to soak in the open-air bath and look at the night view, but moths kept getting into the room as soon as the window was open. I'd recommend bathing in the morning instead. It would be nice to have a washing machine, towels, and basic seasonings like salt and oil.
I stayed in Building J and found it had the basic necessities. There were two baths, one indoors and another in a separate building on the property. The covered BBQ deck had LED lights and was very comfortable. A few stink bugs were in the room, but I asked the manager what to do, so they weren't much of a problem. I also enjoyed the view. It seems the town bought and now runs these cottages as unsold second-hand properties from a development originally planned as a residential complex with hot springs.
