Onsen Yado Mizuguchi

The front desk staff member gave us a map and talked us through restaurant opening hours and what each place served. The location was lovely, and everyone we met was friendly. The onsen was clean, and my family adored it. We’d stay here again and recommend it to anyone needing a place in the area.

After a soak, falling asleep to the river was one of the best parts of our stay. The ryokan sits right beside the water, in a peaceful spot, and has a cozy feel. Our room was spacious, with a terrace facing the river, and the price seemed fair for the setting. Though the place was mostly booked, we always found the onsen to ourselves. The host was warm and helpful, showing us around and explaining things clearly. He also reminded us beforehand to bring cash. A lovely choice for a quiet, traditional stay.

The service was professional and friendly, and the shared and private areas were very clean. The room was quite large, and the Ryokan is only a few minutes’ walk from the magnificent Shuzeji tempel. You’ll share the toilet and shower with other guests and brush your teeth at a public sink, so be prepared for that. If you’re comfortable with it, this Ryokan fits the old, romantic atmosphere perfectly and is a very enjoyable stay.

The river was wonderfully soothing, and the town is hard to beat. It also wasn’t an expensive stay. Our room was clean, and the staff member who welcomed us did his best to show us around in English. The shared bathroom was too small for me to use comfortably without knocking my knees on the door. The in-house onsen wasn’t worth the stay, and it wasn’t the best place I’ve stayed either. Still, the location alone makes it worth a stop.
