Traditional Onsen Ryokan Izu Yugashima Shirakabe

The onsens were amazing and really relaxing, and with few guests during our stay, everything was quiet and peaceful. The location and rooms were beautiful and very clean. My partner has OCD and worries about cleanliness, but she felt comfortable and happy here. The food was incredible and fresh, with seafood and lots of vegetables in most breakfast and dinner courses. The whole staff showed impressive care and dedication, and the service was impeccable. I was initially worried about the language barrier since this is a small mountain town away from the big cities and I speak little Japanese. It turned out not to be a problem. Some staff speak good English, though please be patient since it isn’t their first language. We had a great time and can’t wait to come back on our next trip.

We don’t speak Japanese, but the staff were fantastic and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The wasabi-focused food was a delight at both breakfast and dinner. Our cozy room had a private bath, lovely for a soak under the stars. The public and private baths are beautiful and a unique experience.

The hotel sits beside a stream and has both indoor and outdoor onsens. Some rooms come with a private bath where you can lie back and watch the stars on a clear night. A thoroughly satisfying stay, highly recommended.

We had such a good time here. The room and onsen were great, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The meals were so delicious that we’re still talking about them. The area is known for Wasabi, and the chef did a fantastic job with it. We bought Wasabi from the hotel to take home as gifts for family and friends, and they loved it. The hotel is far away, so getting there without your own car isn’t convenient. We rented a car this time with an international driver license from the U.S. The hotel website also explains how to arrive by air, train, or bus. Highly recommend, and we plan to come back.
