After two stays at other hotels near the station, we tried Good Inn Kagoshima during our bicycle trip in South Japan, then came back two or three times. The reception staff don't speak much English, but they'll do everything for their customers. Once, when noise from upstairs kept us awake, they gave us another room for free, and they helped us with plenty of other things too. The downstairs cafe serves a nice breakfast, and the 100 yen shop is cute. Our room was spacious and in good condition, though not new, and it had a washing machine. Thank you, Good Inn people, from the two bicyclists who stayed with you in December 2022. Your service and people are the best in Kagoshima.

A bit dated inside, but the location is handy. There are plenty of restaurants close by, including a family restaurant right next to the hotel. For dinner, I went to one of the two yakiniku places just a few steps away.

Cheap, quick, and easy. You get a Wi-Fi router from the front desk and have to plug it in yourself in the room.

Joyfull is on the ground floor, so the hotel is easy to spot, right beside the west exit of Kagoshima Chuo Station. From the front desk you can go straight into the restaurant, which surprised me with its reasonable prices. The food was decent, and being open 24 hours meant I could have breakfast whenever I wanted. The room was simple and clean, as was the bathroom; the big bathtub was relaxing even for someone my size. The TV and fridge were small, which was a downside, but noise was barely noticeable. My window wouldn't open, though from an upper floor I had a great view of Chuo Station and the station square, plus a lovely night view and Ferris wheel. If local cuisine isn't a priority, this is a convenient, affordable hotel.

I liked this place when I stayed before, so I tried booking again, but no dates were showing online. By phone, I was told it would close in January next year. The abrupt, rushed service on the call was disappointing. Still, I really liked the low prices and convenient location, so I'm very sad it's closing.
