Palace Hotel KAKEGAWA

A very good hotel.

For my three-day, two-night work trip, this was a comfortable place to stay. It’s easy to reach from the station, so I always book here when I’m in Kakegawa for business. The rooms are clean, there’s a large public bath, and breakfast is included, which makes it good value. The staff were all very polite. I wish the bath stayed open later than 11 p.m. It isn’t open all day and night. Breakfast was the same both mornings, so it would be nice to see the menu change daily. I’ll stay here again.

Free “Chupette” ice pops in the changing room after using the large public bath were a fun surprise. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice, and the rooms, though historic in feel, were spotlessly clean. I stayed in Kakegawa on a weekday, when the hotel felt calm and unhurried, like an established city hotel. The staff were a real strength: both the veteran employees and the staff from overseas gave clear, very polite explanations. Check-in was easy even though it was my first visit. I’d like to come back.

The buffet breakfast had some nice options, such as pork rice bowl, kimchi, grated yam, and Yakult. There was ice cream after the bath, too. For a business hotel, the large public bath was a welcome feature. It was very clean and refreshing, perhaps because it had been renovated. I came to visit Kakegawa Kachoen (Kakegawa Flower and Bird Park). Both the park and Kakegawa Station are about a 10-minute walk away, so the location is convenient. The building feels a little old, but it’s well kept and I enjoyed my stay.
