10/10
I liked having that little book by the window, and the room felt cosy and comfortable. The hotel is pleasant, with polite and helpful staff, and the free Wi-Fi stayed fast and steady. Kenroku-en, the castle gardens, and the 21st Century Art Museum are all within walking distance. You can see Main Street from here, though it gets a bit noisy at night. A few small repairs around the rooms would help.

The best part is being right behind the izakaya street Katamachi is known for. The hotel is well located, but the rooms feel old since it was converted from an apartment building, despite being a new hotel. There’s a microwave, fridge, hot water maker, and a spacious powder room, but the toilet smells unpleasant.

There’s a small bathtub in the room, which I appreciated. This is a simple business hotel, and using the public bath is free, though it’s in another APA hotel across the road.

A little worn, but the price is good for such a great location.

Having that extra space made the stay really enjoyable.
