Kanazawa Frexhotel

On my first night of an out-of-prefecture business trip, I booked this because it was by far the cheapest option on nearby hotel sites. The room and building are aging, but the cleanliness was excellent and the shower pressure was great. It's only a two-minute walk from the downtown nightlife area, so getting back to the hotel quickly gave me peace of mind.

They were happy to keep my luggage after checkout, which was helpful. The place feels a little old, but it has the basics, and the nearby convenience store meant I had no problems. It's conveniently located near the bus stop too, so I had no complaints.

The room is spacious, so I don't think there's a lack of room for a desk, but there wasn't one. There's a table by the bed with a kettle and other things, though its layout and even the bed dimensions make it awkward to work on a laptop. I stayed here on a business trip, and it wasn't ideal for getting laptop work done. The area is more of an entertainment district, so finding somewhere to eat or drink isn't a problem. The rates are reasonable, which will suit people mainly interested in that. Breakfast is a set meal, not a buffet, though you can refill the rice and miso soup yourself. They direct guests to an affiliated parking lot, but finding the hotel by car navigation is quite a challenge. It sends you down narrow roads where it's hard to tell if your car will fit.

The staff were good, and both the location and price worked well for me. The building feels incredibly old, though. The rooms are dark, and the electrical outlets are coming apart. It has the feel of a Showa-era business hotel.
