Dosanko Mira Farm

I came back for a second visit, this time with my two dogs. They were allowed into the horse riding area while I tried horseback riding and roasted coffee beans, so I think they enjoyed the experience too. The married couple who run the place make it feel peaceful and relaxing, like being back at my parents’ house. Thank you!

It’s about a 30-minute drive up a mountain road from Karatsu city. Two Dosanko dogs, another dog, and a cat relax here. The air is fresh, and a beautiful mountain stream flows nearby, making it fun to splash around in the water during summer. The old house is well maintained, clean, and stylish. The Dosanko dogs also lead walking tours along forest paths. You can try Genghis Khan made with ingredients sourced from Hokkaido, too.

The home-roasted coffee was aromatic and tasty, and we enjoyed horseback riding with a Hokkaido native. The private lodging is run by a couple from Fukuoka. I’d hoped for local vegetables and dishes, but we got Ureshino hot spring tofu and fries instead, which was a bit disappointing. You can buy the Ureshino hot spring water for 70 yen and tofu for 140 yen at supermarkets in Saga and Fukuoka. There are two rooms, and the bath isn’t available.

I’ve been there twice to eat Genghis Khan. It isn’t fishy at all, and it has a flavor you don’t get from beef, pork, or chicken. It’s delicious and comes with lots of vegetables. We met in Karatsu, and they drove us here in a pickup truck. Thank you so much!
