Hotel Karae - Hostel

I really don't recommend this place. It's close to the station, but that's about all it has going for it. There was a strong orange scent when I arrived, and later the female dorm smelled horrible once everyone was inside. The laundry was the worst part. I tried the washer, which said it would pause for certain steps, but it kept running without those breaks, so I had to rush to get my clothes in after it had started. The guy at reception didn't know how to use it. Then I paid twice for 60 minutes in the dryer, and my clothes seemed even wetter afterward. It was painfully slow, if it worked at all. When I asked for somewhere to hang my clothes, he offered hangers. I asked for 10 and he said he could only give me 5, then kept me waiting while he put a sticker on each one and wrote “hotel” on them individually. That felt absurd and disrespectful, as if I might walk off with them, or as if the stickers would make any difference if I did. It felt like a scam, with a slow machine that makes people keep paying 100 yen per 30 minutes because they don't want to leave with wet clothes. That's the kind of pettiness I found here.
