HOTEL R9 The Yard Kasai

The room itself was clean and spacious, and the location was okay, though nothing special. What made the stay so bad was the service. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful when I asked for help with a particular request, and they refused. Other hotels I’ve stayed at in Japan, including other Hotel R9 The Yard locations, have helped me straight away. Here I felt unwelcome, like I was wasting their time. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

On road trips around Japan, I plan my stops around where R9 is so I can stay somewhere comfortable. I love that the places are always clean and predictable, with the same style every time. Love it!

The staff were really kind, and the place had the basics we needed. The big desk and the fridge with a separate freezer were especially handy for keeping the kids’ ice packs cold. We were one adult with two preschoolers, visiting Kasai City for the first time. Finding it at night was a little tricky with so many dark streets around. The kids weren’t especially interested in the container itself. Since the room is simple and equipped with what you need, I can also see it working well for a stay focused on studying or work.

The room felt about like a business hotel and was perfectly fine for our needs. After checking in at the front desk, staff show you to it, and you unlock the assigned room using a PIN instead of a key. I’d say it suits both work and leisure trips. One thing that could be improved is the food. Putting more effort into it, or working with nearby restaurants, could also help bring more life to the area. (*^^*)
