The Arakawa River is a good spot for open sky and a calm breeze, and Kawaguchi Art Gallery and Ario Mall are worth a visit. Around town, riverside parks and shopping malls sit alongside a city still shaped by work: new towers are going up where factories used to be. There’s a quiet confidence in the locals, and the evening train pulls away with the same steady feel.

I really like this place. There are lots of shops by the station, a huge public library, and a lovely park where you should go for hanami. Almost every weekend there’s some kind of festival on the square in front of the station. It’s a very convenient area :)

There’s plenty of room at the station, though it does feel a little old. It can get pretty crowded during rush hour.

A young staff member had a bad attitude, and I had a really bad experience. Compared with the "omotenashi" service Japan offers guests, this was especially disappointing. One star.
