Kawasaki Nikko Hotel

The only thing that let the stay down was breakfast. We couldn’t find plain water, which was a problem because our daughter only drinks water. We ended up getting it from the ice machine. We were lucky to get a high-floor room with a lovely view. It was spacious and clean, and we really liked being able to connect our phone to the TV and stream YouTube directly. We haven’t seen that in many other hotels. The bathroom was typical for Japan, though the bathtub felt a bit small for us tall people. It still worked fine.

The room is small, but for the rate and location it’s good value. The hotel is super convenient, with its entrance facing the main street and lots of drugstores and restaurants nearby. It’s 1 minute to the JR station and 5 minutes to the Keikyu station, which has a direct line to Haneda Airport.

The air conditioning and heating couldn’t run together, which was uncomfortable because everyone in the room seemed to feel the temperature differently. They provided a circulator, so I used that. I understand the limitation may come from the hotel being old, but I can’t understand the cleaning. I stayed five nights and the floor was never vacuumed, not even once. Since the window doesn’t open, I think vacuuming to remove dust is basic. The disposable slippers were left as if they’d been thrown down, and the basic setup overall bothered me.
