Maki was so generous with her time that staying at her place felt like being with family. It’s a tremendous place to stay in Kazuno, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back. The price is hard to beat, too. The house is very clean, with a spacious room and an extremely comfortable bed. There’s a nice living room, strong WiFi, a kitchen stocked with what you need to cook, a washer and dryer, and an amazing shower and clean bathroom. There’s also an onsen a five-minute walk away.

What stayed with me most was how generously Maki-san shared her time, family, friends and delicious food. Going sightseeing with her and her friend gave me a glimpse of local life most tourists don’t get to see. It felt like entering another world, where people slow down to connect, even taking time to welcome a passing traveler speaking toddler-level Japanese. I spent a week here in January, and for most of it I was the only guest. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the full kitchen and living room were great. The house is decorated with care and has charming personal touches, including its own custom stamps. The setting is peaceful and rural, yet only a short walk from the train station, bus stops, supermarkets and restaurants. I wanted to experience countryside (countryside) Japan, and staying here was the right choice.

We stopped here for one night on our bicycle trip from Narita to Sapporo. It’s a humble, authentic place, clean and welcoming, with an owner who speaks English well and is very friendly. I liked it.

The rooms are very well equipped, and Kazuno Hanawa station is only a few minutes away. Most of all, the owner is well informed, welcoming and genuinely helpful.

A refreshing place to get away from the cities. The welcome was friendly and relaxed, and the whole experience was wonderful. Definitely worth trying in Kazuno.
