Kibikougen Resort Hotel

There’s plenty of parking, and a supermarket and 24-hour convenience store downstairs. The hotel is on the third floor of Kibi Plaza, in a beautiful, quiet area. The rooms are spacious and the price is very reasonable. I didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant, so I can’t comment on it.

There’s a kids’ play area in the same building, which seems handy for families with little ones. I’ve bought Sanjuro souvenirs here several times. The place is in a quiet mountain setting, but a 24-hour convenience store is right downstairs, and it even has seafood, so you can enjoy a bit of both the mountains and the sea. I highly recommend it!

The food was delicious, and the portions were satisfying. It was a shame there wasn’t a large public bath. Since it was my child’s birthday, they gave us a complimentary drink. The staff were all kind and polite, and when I asked where I could buy souvenirs, they took time to think it through and help me. It’s a relaxing, lodge-style hotel, and we had a great stay.

I used to come here regularly in the summer. Lately they haven’t been able to provide a smoking room, so maybe the whole hotel has gone smoke-free. There isn’t a regular smoking area inside; you have to head to the first floor and use the one outside, though there are plenty of outdoor smoking spots. Still, I like the place: there’s a supermarket and convenience store on the first floor, the food choices are good, there are lots of manga near the front, and they’ve recently added a family bath. I’d really like a smoking area!
