Nezame Hotel

The room felt a little dated, some shared corners were dusty, and the onsen was pretty basic. The price also seemed a bit high, though I still had a good experience overall. It's a little outside town, but Nezame No Toko is very close. You can catch a bus or walk to the center, including Agematsu station. If sakura are your thing, aim for mid to late April. The row of cherry trees by the parking lot is lovely.

We stopped in Nezame because the trip from Geso to Tokyo would have been a very long one. The hotel seemed reasonably priced when we booked, and we were pleasantly surprised by how well maintained it was and by the nice onsen. We arrived at night, so we couldn't see the view then. In the morning, Nezame-no-toko looked great. The park is only about a four-minute walk away, or you can park at 7-11 and take the path down. Walk closer to the stones for some good photos. The place is awesome.

The only real drawback for us was getting to the train station. It took around 20-30 minutes on foot, though there is a bus as another option. We were able to reach all the places we wanted to see by train. We spent three nights here after hiking the Tori Pass and Magome-Tsumago trails, and it was a lovely place to rest in the onsen. The rooms were cozy and had the amenities we needed, and the traditional breakfast gave us a nice taste of local culture. We'd missed our train and were short on time, but the staff kindly made an exception and let us check in after the stated time. We really appreciated their warm welcome and hospitality.

The sento was a lovely extra, especially with that sunset over the mountains. Definitely worth a visit. Our twin room had western beds that were comfortable, the AC worked really well, and the mountain view was wonderful. The staff were attentive and helpful, and we really enjoyed the Japanese-style breakfast. We had a great stay and are planning to come back to the area, so there's a good chance we'll stay here again.
