Kitami Pierson Hotel

The rooms show their age, but they're kept up well and feel relaxing. I also found the large public bath clean and uncrowded, and the food was enjoyable. The Chinese restaurant costs a bit more, though its dishes are delicious. It's a popular place, so book early if you're coming to Kitami for business.

The men's public bath has a warm jet bath, a hot bath, and two cold baths. The dry sauna felt just right, and although the changing room is small, it caused me no trouble. Being able to get draft beer right after changing is a nice touch, with the charge added to the room. The rooms are clean, and the in-room bath was very good, with no damp smell. There aren't many electrical outlets, so gadget users should take note. There's a basic USB port, but its cable is short and awkward to use. Parking is across the street in a small multi-storey garage, which can be tricky with a large vehicle. There are entrances by the lobby and at the back, and it looks like a handy place to get a lot done.

I stay here every month, and the staff are still so kind, even when I come back late at night. It's close to the bars, and the hot spring and softly lit rooms make it easy to unwind. The warm orange lighting feels soothing in a time when LED lights are everywhere. I'll be back again, and I appreciate the continued kindness.

For my business trips to Kitami, this is the hotel I choose. The free hot spring and sauna are a great perk. I just wish the sauna were open in the morning too.
