Akimotoya Ryokan

We came to ski at Grandeco and stayed at this ryokan in the Urabandai area. It was our first long trip with our dog, and we had a lovely time. The room was spacious and clean, with room for our family of four and the dog. Dinner had lots of different dishes and plenty of food, all delicious. The bespoke alcohol was reasonably priced. Our elementary school child got a different dinner from the adults, but it was just as generous, with lots of variety and familiar favorites. My youngest usually doesn't eat much ryokan food, but ate well this time. Breakfast was good too, with bacon and eggs, salad, ham, natto, seaweed, and three little portions of simmered dishes, which seemed unusual for breakfast. The bath had a roomy shower area and tub, big enough for two or three people, and the water was just the right temperature. The staff were very helpful, which made this a great ryokan.

This was our third visit, following last year, and we came with our dog again. My wife and I always feel at ease here because the owner and landlady are so kind and gentle. The food is delicious, the rooms spotless, and they let us have the bath to ourselves, so we could use it three times. We'll be back many more times. PS. I have allergies, so I was concerned about staying somewhere that allows pets. The inn was so clean that it wasn't an issue at all. The food was great in both taste and amount, especially for the price. The bath isn't a hot spring, but the water felt nice and relaxing. Most of all, the couple who run the place made me feel very comfortable. I know things must be hard during the COVID-19 pandemic, but please keep going.

Such a pleasant inn, and the dinner was incredibly generous and special. I really appreciated it.
