Halo Hotel Kobayashi

Breakfast was a Japanese buffet, with staff making things like omelets right in front of us. The building and my single room were very clean, and it seemed like a newly built hotel. There’s only a shower in the bathroom, but that felt adequate for the price. I just wish the front desk staff had been friendlier.

We were traveling with children, and the breakfast staff kindly brought out spoons and forks for them. Breakfast was tasty, although the menu was nearly identical each of the three days. I stayed in a very clean detached room for three nights, with separate toilet, sink, and bathroom, plus a bathtub and everything I needed. There were lots of ants in the room even with the door shut. I guess they come in from outside, but I wish something had been done to keep them out. It was affordable and clean, though, and I’d stay again if I return to Kobayashi.

The strongest shower pressure I’ve ever felt was a surprise. It’s a shower booth, not a unit bath, and I guess the intense pressure is meant to save water. The two-story hotel is built from shipping containers, and I booked once for work because I was curious about staying in one. It was very quiet and I had no problems, though there’s no elevator, so ask for a first-floor room if you have heavy luggage. Breakfast didn’t offer much choice, but it was good. A large free parking lot is behind the building; bars and a Direx convenience store are within walking distance for dinner. There are vending machines on the first floor and microwaves on both floors, but I couldn’t find an ice maker.
