We loved the early morning coffee in the sunrise cafe, watching the city wake up at 5 am. The room was just right, with a huge tub and a separate shower, and everything from the sheets to the soap felt high quality. Breakfast was amazing, from omelettes made to order to sesame bean cakes and kale smoothies. The shared spaces have a grand feel, with antique furniture and old photos. Staff were excellent, especially Rachel, who went out of her way to help us locate something we'd left at a previous hotel. We can't recommend The Orient enough.

The room had some fun surprises, including riedel glasses, a stylish refa hairdryer, and Marshall. Breakfast was beautiful, with free-flow champagne and high-quality fusion food. Staff were helpful, and everyone we met spoke good English. This is easily the best boutique hotel I've stayed at in Japan. I'd come back and recommend it to people I know.

Our four nights in a City View room were comfortable and enjoyable. The staff were attentive and professional, and the service, location, and breakfast all worked out really well. We were satisfied with the stay and will return on our next trip. Highly recommended.

We got a free upgrade to a larger room, and the staff were consistently friendly and accommodating. The hotel felt modern and elegant, with great city and water views, especially after dark. Shin-Kobe station is a bit of a walk, but getting a taxi there and back was easy. Taxis regularly wait right outside the hotel's front entrance. I'd happily stay again and highly recommend it.

The two-Michelin-star sushi restaurant was truly outstanding. The rest of the hotel is lovely too, with comfortable, well-appointed rooms and a beautiful classic feel. Everyone on staff was incredibly warm and friendly. Breakfast was the one letdown: it felt really chaotic, which caught us off guard after how smoothly everything else ran. It's an upscale hotel in the heart of Kobe City.
