Hotel New Station

It’s handy being right by the station, with a convenience store nearby, and breakfast came as a set meal. They were kind enough to cook the raw egg as a fried egg for me. The room was clean, though the place is clearly old. I found the bathroom floor slippery, and the air conditioner was noisy. The toilet seat was both unheated and without a washlet, so it felt really cold.

I picked this place because it was inexpensive, and breakfast was included. There’s also a convenience store close by. Business hotels in Kofu can get costly at certain times of year and eat into a work trip budget. The room had a bit of a draft in winter, but I suppose that can’t be helped. The staff were really friendly, so I’d stay again.

The rain after work made the hotel’s location near the station a real help. I chose it partly because Kofu doesn’t have many hotel options, and I’ve lately been skipping breakfast at Toyoko Inn because I never got comfortable with how it works. This one serves breakfast at the table instead of as a buffet, and the meal was just right. They include a raw egg, but will cook it for you if you don’t like it. The room was average and clean enough, but the building and facilities feel dated. The old style heating made the room very warm, though I turned it off because of the noise. There was also a ticking wall clock. The rain kept it from bothering me while I slept, but I noticed it early in the morning and then couldn’t get back to sleep. Earplugs could be useful if you’re sensitive to noise. At around 8000 yen, it wasn’t exactly cheap, though it’s among the least expensive options in Kofu. I didn’t think the stay was bad at all.

For a work trip, the location close to Kofu Station was handy if you’re taking the train, and the shower pressure was good. The drawbacks were the lack of an automatic lock and bidet, plus the lights only worked once I inserted the key fob. The price was also fairly high, just under 9,000 yen.
