Takigahara Craft & Stay

The shared space was clean and beautiful, and the bunk beds felt sturdy and comfortable.

After a day's ride from Toyama while bikepacking around Japan, this was a lovely place to rest. It's surrounded by beautiful tall trees, and if a quiet getaway is what you're after, this is the spot.

The atmosphere felt like a warm hug, and breakfast was amazingly delicious. I stayed in a bunk, which was pretty comfortable for what it was, with great pillows. A family with small children was in the next room, but I couldn't hear them at all. I do wish I'd been assigned a better bunk. The ceiling angle meant the light shone straight toward my bed, and a large wooden beam crossed my space so the curtains couldn't close in the middle. I didn't get full protection from the light or much privacy. The beam was dusty too, and it triggered a small asthma attack on my first night. Even with the worst bunk, I loved the stay. I can only imagine how nice one of the better ones would be. I've been recommending this place to everyone.

The people and village are as wonderful as you could imagine. It's a retreat surrounded by nature that nourishes both your soul and your stomach. You won't want to leave, and you'll want to come back again and again. A must!
