The family running the hotel were wonderfully welcoming. After a long day of walking around the area, we were offered apple juice and delicious homemade cheesecake, which we really appreciated. Our room was spacious enough and had a balcony overlooking the sea. They also pointed us to a very good okonomiyaki restaurant in Kumano, well worth a visit. We only stayed briefly, but enjoyed it. We missed our train, silly tourists, and the son kindly drove us to our next location. Thanks so much for the amazing hospitality!
The stay was comfortable and peaceful, and the host was really friendly with great local tips. I'd love to come back.
This family guesthouse made me feel like one of their own. I was greeted warmly with a complimentary drink and a slice of homemade cheesecake. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. There's parking on site, which you'll need since getting around this area is much easier by car. After six years living in Japan, this is the best hospitality I've experienced at a hotel or other accommodation.
The family of three who run this cosy little guesthouse made it feel like home for a few days. They welcomed us with delicious cheesecake, chatted with us despite my very basic Japanese, gave us useful route advice and tips, and even offered to drive us to the train station on our last day. The welcome and breakfast were both wonderful, and I'll remember the place fondly and hope to return someday. It's right off national route 311, with a sea view from the upstairs corridor. The rooms are on the small side, but very clean, and I slept comfortably on the futon. Such a warm place 🩷💕
The family running this small guest house welcomed us warmly with orange juice and homemade cheesecake. They were friendly and helpful, and it was clear they wanted us to enjoy our stay. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a balcony overlooking the spectacular bay in front of the hotel. Onigajo trailhead, part of the UNESCO site, is maybe 400 yards away. There are many places along the 1km cliffside path to take photos or simply enjoy the view. For laundry, there's a laundromat in the hotel across the way, just to the right of the vending machine.
