We only tried the restaurant and didn't stay at the small hotel above it. While visiting Kurashiki, we spotted this traditional Japanese restaurant and decided to eat there. The wait was long, so we crossed over for a drink while we waited. We ordered the wild boar rice bowl and the fish rice bowl. Both were delicious, served in good portions, and felt healthy.

The queue can be long, but I thought it was worth waiting for the fresh ingredients and distinctive flavors. I loved the whole place, from its atmosphere to the food. And don't miss the happy pudding, it's the best pudding ever. The restaurant itself feels like a work of art.

This is a review of the cafe. We liked the look of the place and the interesting menu, so we decided to try it. Both the fish and pork dishes were delightful. The egg mixed with rice was the real surprise, I'd never had that combination taste so good. The desserts were a lovely extra too.

The old-Japan feel of the interior is lovely, and the server was kind and explained everything in a cute illustrated guide that showed how to eat the dishes. We queued for about 30 minutes at 2 pm. I heard the meal sets sell out by 3 pm, though simple dishes and desserts are still available. The sashimi chazuke combo was really good, and the egg mixed rice and pudding were so good too. The set also came with drinks.

The peach juice was a highlight, delicious and served in a beautiful handmade glass shaped like a peach. It's a local specialty of the prefecture, so definitely try it. The pudding and panna cotta had cute faces drawn on them, and the meals came with colorful, adorable instructions. We had the boar rice bowl and egg with rice, both were amazing. We chose tatami seating for a more Japanese feel, though there are also shared benches. You order from hand-drawn menus before sitting down. We passed by before opening, then returned about five minutes before it opened and already found a few people waiting. It was one of the cutest places we enjoyed on our trip. We were curious about the handmade glasses sold next door, but after seeing the price, we carefully put them back, took a photo, and left. Amazing that those are the glasses used for the juice!
