Kurume Hotel Esprit

The bed was comfortable, but it smelled, and the room was dusty and had an odor. The shower was disgusting and smelled like a sewer. Trains passing by shook the room, and it was noisy, even though the hotel is right in front of the station. I gave it three stars because of the price. It was 4000 yen for the night, so you get what you pay for.

The hotel is conveniently right next to the train station, though you can hear trains until midnight and again when the first one starts early in the morning. They wouldn’t let me check in early, but I could leave my luggage in the lobby. Once the room was ready, they put my bag in the room, and I just had to pick up the key. I’m not sure whether they forgot to give me a breakfast coupon with the key or whether you’re meant to get one at the lobby counter in the morning.

I was checked in in under a minute, and the woman at the front desk was kind and spoke wonderful English. The room was clean and spacious, with restaurants and the train station nearby. The trains were very loud, which was my only complaint. I enjoyed the stay and would come back if I’m in the area.

The room was spacious, and the bed, carpet, bathroom, and other areas were all very clean, though the hotel itself doesn’t feel very new. If I visit Kurume again, this would be my first choice. The front desk service was excellent. I don’t speak Japanese, but the staff patiently worked out what I needed and helped me call the car rental company until I got through. Parking isn’t reservable, but they were friendly and gave me clear directions and a map for nearby lots.
