Ariston Hotel Kyoto Jujo

The staff were very nice, and the rooms were quiet. It was also useful to have a laundry room for guests. Still, my family and I had a disappointing stay. In the first room, booked for three adults, there were only two beds, and the larger one wasn't big enough for two adults. Its floor was very dirty, so we moved to a room with three beds, but there was barely any space and that floor was dirty too, stained and covered in gravel, as if it hadn't been vacuumed in ages. I didn't want to walk on it barefoot. The pillows were hard and uncomfortable. Restaurant food was good, but there wasn't much variety. The photos in the elevator and online showed fruit, scrambled eggs and more breads, but there was no fruit or scrambled eggs, and Western choices were just toast and cereal. I expected the pictured options. The stay was also quite expensive for how long we were there.

The neighborhood is worth a wander, with some hidden shops to find. We stayed two nights and even got to check in two hours early. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable, though the bathroom was tight but usable. It's affordable and close to a bus line and subway that take you to Kyoto Station. Renovations have made the hotel feel newer and more modern, and the staff were kind and spoke a good amount of English. There aren't many amenities, but it works. Hood Approved 👍🏾👍🏾

Everything felt new and high tech, and the bath was lovely. After a fun day in Kyoto, the beds were just right, really comfortable. The five stars are for the wonderful staff, who were so helpful and nice. Thanks for a great stay.

It's a newer hotel with a more modern feel, but it's very compact. Luckily, we could move the beds farther apart to make room. Otherwise, opening both suitcases at once would have been impossible. There was no fitness center or pool.
